Some stores such as Thorntons announced closures early in the year, but for others such as BrightHouse, the coronavirus pandemic was said to be the "final nail in the coffin". 1. Trespass
Sports shop Trespass was plastered in closing down sale posters before the second UK lockdown. However, the Commercial Street store is still listed on the company's website.
2. Hotter
Hotter - a footwear shop in Commercial Street - is now empty. The location search tool on the website says there are " no stores to display" in West Yorkshire.
3. NYX
Make-up store NYX opened in Trinity Leeds in 2017. It is now boarded up and is no longer listed on the company website or the Trinity Leeds website. The brand still sells in Boots.
4. Monsoon
The Monsoon store in Commercial Street shut for good on Wednesday, February 12. At the time, a spokesperson for Monsoon confirmed that there were no plans to close the adjoining Accessorize store.
5. VIrgin Media Shop
The Virgin Media shop in Commercial Street is closed. The Virgin website states: "Our retail stores are now permanently closed, but don’t worry – we’re still supporting customers 24 hours, 7 days a week at virginmedia.com."
6. Carphone Warehouse
The Carphone Warehouse store in the corner of Commercial Street and Briggate is closed and up for sale. Customers can still access Carphone Warehouses within the Currys/PCWorld stores in Albion Street and Crown Point Shopping Centre.
