Whole year group sent home by Woodkirk Academy after three coronavirus cases at school

Woodkirk Academy in Tingley confirmed three cases of coronavirus at the school - a single case in Year 13 and two in Year 11.
Those who have had significant contact with the Year 13 case have been identified and asked to stay at home and self-isolate in line with national guidance, the academy confirmed.

Hide AdAll Year 11 students have been sent home as a precaution whilst the academy identify those who had significant contact with either case.
Joanne Barton, Principal of Woodkirk Academy said: "Today we received confirmation of a single case in Year 13 and two cases affecting Year 11.
"Those who have had significant contact with the Year 13 case have been identified and asked to stay at home and self-isolate in line with national guidance.
"We also sent all our Year 11 students home as a precaution whilst we work to identify anyone who has had significant contact with either case.

Hide Ad“We have robust procedures in place to deal with positive cases and immediately contacted the Department for Education and the Yorkshire and Humberside Health Protection Team for advice.
“The health, safety and wellbeing of our whole school community remains our priority and we want to thank our students, staff and parents for their ongoing support with this.”
