Investigation launched into West Yorkshire Police after unmarked police car hits two people
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have launched an investigation into the crash which happened just after midday on Wednesday November 21.
The 71-year-old female pedestrian is still in hospital following the incident, and police are trying to track down a second person they believe was also hit by the car.

Hide AdWest Yorkshire Police said in a statement yesterday that the other pedestrian "avoided the vehicle and walked away from the scene" and that they were trying to trace him as a significant witness to the incident.
He was described as a white, aged in his late forties or early fifties and was wearing a brown fur deerstalker hat, a black jacket with grey piping on the zips, light blue jeans and beige shoes. He was carrying a white carrier bag.
A spokesperson for the said: "We have begun an investigation following an incident in which two pedestrians were hit by a police car in Leeds.
“We understand, at this time, an unmarked West Yorkshire Police car was travelling from the city centre to an unrelated incident just after midday yesterday (21 November) when it happened.

Hide Ad“The police car hit a 71-year-old woman, a pedestrian, on Roseville Road. She is currently being treated in hospital, where her condition is described as serious. A second pedestrian is also thought to have been hit by the police car but left the scene shortly after; it’s unclear if he’s been injured, the force is seeking to trace that person to check his welfare.
“Our independent investigation is under way; we sent investigators to the scene and attending the post incident procedures. The next steps are to obtain initial statements from the two officers involved and any witnesses to the incident.”
