He pleaded guilty to possessing a mobile phone in prison.
The court heard Campbell was given of six-and-a-half-year sentence in November last year after being convicted of four drug supply offences.
Kara Frith, mitigating, said Campbell committed the offence as he knew he was facing a lengthy prison sentence and wanted to contact his friends to collect his property from his home before his landlord threw them away.
Ms Frith said the text messages on his phone related to him making arrangements to recover his belongings and were not related to criminal activity.
