'This is mindless vandalism': Bus drivers forced to avoid Leeds area after yobs smash windows and attack workman

Gangs of youths threw stones at buses and stopped vehicles with traffic cones in the South Parkway area of Seacroft on Saturday, March 7.
Six bus windows were smashed as a result of the violence.
When a First Bus engineer went to fix the issues, he was attacked by the anti-social youths.
He was not seriously injured.

Hide AdServices 4, 11A, 16 and 16A were diverted away from the South Parkway and Kentmere Avenue areas as a safety precaution.
A spokesman for First West Yorkshire said:" A number of our buses were targeted at the weekend around the Blacks Shops area of South Parkway, Seacroft by a group of youths throwing stones and using traffic cones to stop vehicles which resulted in six buses with smashed windows.
"An engineer who came to support was assaulted but not seriously injured and fortunately no passengers or drivers were hurt.
“As a safety precaution we diverted services away from this location and these have since returned to the normal route.

Hide AdHe added: "This is mindless vandalism and reckless behaviour that endangers our staff and customers.
"We will do all we can to assist the police in apprehending the people involved, including the use of CCTV footage from on-board cameras that are fitted to all our buses.”
The incident comes after West Yorkshire police were granted two Dispersal Orders for areas in Crossgates and Seacroft.
This means officers are able to to tell anyone congregating in a group and acting in an anti-social manner to leave the area immediately.

Hide AdThe order requires those issued with the dispersal order not to return within 48 hours.
Those under the age of 18 years will be returned home to parents or guardians.
Anyone found to be in breach of the order within the 48 hours will be arrested.
