Fears over new Leeds homes plans
An application has now been submitted to Leeds City Council to create the housing development on land off Old Thorpe Lane, Tingley
The plans were first revealed in February and if given the go-ahead, the land will be sold to pay for a revamp of the north and south stands at the Rugby League club’s stadium in North Leeds.

Councillor Jack Dunn said: “Most people support sport in our city, but not at the expense of our local green space.
“I have objected to this application on the grounds that the land at Tingley is within greenbelt and as it is not for sport or agriculture there should be no dispensation given to allow the land to be built on.
“The land is subject to flooding and it is also not sustainable by way of the local highways.

The proposals for the Headingley stadium include a new South Stand and replacement for the existing joint stand.
Coun Dunn added: “If this application was to be granted it could throw the whole forward planning process into chaos.
“It would also make a mockery of the council’s policy of putting brownfield sites first.”
