Despite the new coronavirus restrictions, the annual Light Night in Leeds is still going ahead this year, with the seven locations of the lasers revealed. The event is composed of several laser shows that run across the city, with captivating performances by local, national and international artists. The event is free and uses both large scale projectors and interactive installations to create a spectacular laser display which can be seen for miles. The lasers will be on top of seven city centre rooftops, which means that people in Leeds will be able to watch and appreciate the lights show from a safe distance. Because of the socially distant requirements of this year's Light Night, the event will be run online and give viewers the chance to take charge and control the lights themselves using a phone or tablet. Viewers will be able to direct the colour, direction and pattern of the lights' movements online and watch the show through a stream. Laser Light City, designed by BAFTA award-winning artist Seb Lee-Delisle, is a one-of-a-kind interactive laser show coming to the Leeds skyline on the nights of 22nd, 23rd and 24th October. "Even more exciting, this dazzling city-wide spectacle is in YOUR hands. For the first time, members of the public will have the chance to control huge powerful lasers, mounted on the rooftops of 7 landmark buildings, directly from their smartphone or computer. Using the interactive website (link below) to control the position, colour and shape of the lasers which can be seen for miles across the night sky. How to take part and control the Night Light lasers On the day, go to this website. "Once the event starts, you choose which laser site you want to access, and the interface will appear on your phone. In busy periods you will have to join a queue and wait your turn. Once you have access to the interface, you tap on your screen and the lasers will follow your movement. There will be additional controls at the bottom of the screen to change the shape and colour of the beams. "Laser Light City can be enjoyed by all ages and from wherever you are. The lasers can be seen from anywhere in the greater Leeds area; it's best if you have a direct view of the city but you will also see them across the sky from your gardens and windows. "If you are seeing the lasers in person please make sure you observe social distancing and do not gather in groups with anyone outside your household.
