West Yorkshire flooding expected in Calder valley tonight as river levels rise due to Storm Francis

River levels have risen in the Calder Catchment as a result of the heavy rainfall from Storm Francis, the flood service said.
Consequently, flooding of roads and low-lying land is possible between 5pm tonight and 4am tomorrow morning.

Hide AdFurther rainfall is expected until the early hours of tomorrow according to the service.
The warning said: "We expect river levels to remain high until 09:00 on 26/08/20.
"We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Our incident response staff are checking defences.
"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses."
The warning comes as a similar message was issued for Bridlington seafront.
