Huddersfield Town 2 Leeds United 1: YEP player ratings
Leeds United:
Rob Green - Equal to some big Huddersfield chances in the first half and wasn’t helped by a defence who allowed Town in at close range too often. 7/10
Luke Ayling - Pace is the one thing that consistently gets to Ayling and Wagner’s side had enough of it to unsettle him. An early booking didn’t help. 5/10

Hide AdKyle Bartley - Involved in Wood’s goal and had the added difficulty of dealing with an unusual off day from Jansson. But not his usual self. 6/10
Pontus Jansson - Credit to Quaner for taking United’s centre-backs a long way out of their comfort zone. Jansson has rarely struggled to this extent. 5/10
Gaetano Berardi - As combative as ever but was guilty of giving the ball away in dangerous areas and couldn’t shut Kachunga down. 5/10
Liam Bridcutt - There was no lack of fight from Monk’s midfield but it felt at times as if their graft was being wasted. Little by little, Town’s dominance told. 6/10

Hide AdRonaldo Vieira - Very competitive in certain periods but second-best in others as the derby ebbed and flowed. Town’s intensity refused to dropped. 5/10
Souleymane Doukara - No serious attacking threat from him and his defensive work wasn’t great either. Pedraza looked like twice the winger, if not more. 4/10
Pablo Hernandez - Tried his best to dictate the tempo but Huddersfield gave him no peace and he ran out of energy. His set-pieces were less reliable than usual. 5/10
Stuart Dallas - You were hoping he would kick on after his goal at Blackburn but there were only brief moments when Huddersfield had to worry about him. 5/10

Hide AdChris Wood - As ever, came up with the goal but found himself a long way out on a limb and wasn’t able to hold the ball up consistently. 6/10
Substitutes:
Alfonso Pedraza (for Doukara, 61) - Enough in this cameo to suggest that Leeds have a player. Came close to a goal and produced a couple of clever, jinking runs. 6/10
Mo Barrow (for Dallas, 76) - A substitute designed to win the game but never got on the ball and his foul preceded Hefele’s winning goal. 5/10
Eunan O’Kane (for Hernandez, 83) - Monk must have hoped that O’Kane would at least secure a point but he couldn’t stop Huddersfield pressing. 5/10
