Leeds United: Chris Wood named in Football League team of the week
The Kiwi striker had faced criticism from fans in recent weeks, but was in fine form against Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals.
It was not only the 24-year-old’s goalscoring that was praised after the match. Wood was also recognised for the manner in which he held up the ball and helped stop waves of Hull attacks.

It got Leeds rolling in a game they were not expected to win, giving the Whites a platform on which to build. Tom Adeyemi scored a second shortly after, and while Ahmed Elmohamady scored in the 51st minute, Leeds held out.
Wood has been the target of criticism after his reported £3 million move from Leicester City, although Wood leads the club’s goalscoring charts for the campaign with seven goals in 19 league games.
