My Leeds United - times have changed thanks to Marcelo Bielsa's Whites

Beth Farrar is a zoology graduate from Leeds.
I was stuck in a Leeds kit, like the majority, from before I could walk, but I didn’t actually get into football properly until a bit later.
My dad always kept me interested with the stories and we now sit together in the East Stand and I’m more than grateful he made me part of this craziness.

It was pre-match pies and thermal flasks during the freezing winter games when we were pulling in 17,000 on a Tuesday night at home to Cardiff.
Finishing 15th every season became a bizarre comfort – I still come away from games struggling with the idea of us being ‘the best in the league’ but if anybody deserves promotion it’s Marcelo Bielsa and this team.
The Leeds salutes came everywhere, from the middle of nowhere in Croatia, talking for hours about Bielsa to the Zulu tribe in South Africa and the beaches of Malta.

This club has something else no other club has, it’s sometimes hard to pinpoint exactly what that is but nearly dying from Kemar Roofe’s winner away at Aston Villa last season and again at home to Blackburn Rovers, the devastation of the play-offs and chasing Massimo Cellino around Elland Road car park in his taxi, gives you a slight idea.
I miss football, I miss the simple walk down to the ground past the ‘hat, scarves and badges’ bloke and the preacher who nobody used to take interest in.
I’m lost without my match days, but we’ll be back and it’s going to be an incredibly special first few games when we eventually do get there.
