Your Leeds United views: Front two finally living up to fans' pre-season billing

It was an absolutely great win last night (for Leeds United at Cardiff City on Tuesday).
At the beginning of the season, Souleymane Doukara and Mirco Antenucci are the names I was expecting to see on the scoresheet week in, week out.

Hide AdThe defence was excellent and only came under pressure so much because of, in my opinion, our poor midfield.
We must get that grit and blood and thunder we have in defence instilled in our midfield.
I’ve always rated Antenucci, and, if it wasn’t for the debacle of not letting him play last season because he was scoring too many, and then playing him as a totally lone striker, which he himself says he doesn’t like and struggles with, then he’d have had a whole load more goals.
Top pro’ and fit as a butcher’s dog
Gaetano Beradi, for me, is definitely a player-of-the-year candidate.

The only stats I really care about this morning are the three points, two goals and clean sheet.
We really saw a team playing for the shirt (against Cardiff); their reaction at the final whistle showed how much it means to them.
Two wins don’t make a season

Leeds United can stick your two wins ‘where the sun don’t shine’.

Victory papers over the cracks

IT was a relief to win the game (at Cardiff) but (for Leeds United) to have been under so much pressure against 10 men is worrying.
Goals change games and a scoreline can make everything seem a lot better than it is.
Against Brighton we had more possession than we did against Cardiff. We had more shots against Brighton than against Cardiff. Brighton had 11 shots against us whereas Cardiff had 25. Brighton had six shots on target against us and Cardiff had 10 shots on target.

Hide AdYet, we got hammered by Brighton and beat Cardiff. Brighton took their chances and Cardiff didn’t.
I know stats don’t always tell the full story, but it seems to me that we could easily have been hammered by Cardiff and the mood (afterwards) would have been totally different. I think the result very much papers over vast cracks. How I long for a few performances that blows away the opposition!
