Sam Zajac hails Leeds Chiefs after stunning performances against Basingstoke Bison
“It was probably a bit unexpected, but everybody bought in to what we needed to do,” said Zajac on the long bus ride home to West Yorkshire.
“It just shone through that the guys that were there, they all wanted to be there and believed in themselves and believed in the systems.

“There were some guys that have probably played lesser roles previously this season that came on leaps and bounds this weekend.
“Charns (Liam Charnock)was unbelievable, it’s the best I’ve seen him play, the same with Ethan (Hehir). Those two played together and looked dangerous every time they were on the ice.”
Zajac was also keen to highlight the contribution of new signing Lewis Houston and not just for his memorable overtime winner in last night’s second game.

“I was really, really impressed with his overall game. I knew how good he was but I was probably a bit surprised how quickly and how seamlessly he adapted to this higher level.
“It is the highest level he’s played at and he was one of our standout players - but then they all were. I was proud of every single one of them.”
